Rangers could confirm brand new signing this week as Michael Beale shares update

Michael Beale has confirmed Rangers could announce a new signing on Wednesday ahead of their Scottish Premiership clash against Hearts.

The Gers have been linked with the likes of Jack Butland, Dujon Sterling and Kieran Dowell in recent weeks as Beale looks to begin his summer overhaul.

Talking after the Gers’ 3-1 win over Hibernian, Beale revealed an announcement could be made on Wednesday evening.

“I’m really happy with where things are at. We can’t announce anything, the window isn’t open yet. When it opens, we’ll be ready to announce one or two things. One might be announced on Wednesday at Ibrox,” said Beale (BBC Sport, 21 May).

Beale is clearly trying to get his business done early, with there being a number of new faces linked with moves to Ibrox. The board are supporting the Rangers boss and there should be plenty of positivity heading into the off-season. Todd Cantwell and Nicolas Raskin have been promising additions but more needs to be done.

Celtic are certainly beatable and the Gers will be looking to close the gap to Ange Postecoglou’s side next season. The recent win over the Hoops demonstrated that there isn’t too much between the two sides. One or two quality additions could see the Light Blues mount a credible challenge next season.

Cantwell and Raskin both have significant Old Firm experience and are now well-placed to kick on next year. As the transfer window edges closer, the Ibrox faithful should be prepared for a number of additions to be announced by the club. Lots of work has been going on behind the scenes and we could be about to see significant summer of change.

In other Rangers news, one pundit has slammed Alfredo Morelos for being “miles off it” this season and urged Everton to avoid signing the striker in the summer transfer window.
