Kris Boyd slams Alfredo Morelos live on Sky Sports after Jeff Stelling raises Everton transfer links
Kris Boyd has slammed Alfredo Morelos for being “miles off it” at Rangers this season and urged Everton to avoid signing the striker in the summer transfer window.
Michael Beale recently confirmed that Morelos would be “moving on” from Ibrox at the end of the campaign when his contract expires, with Everton appearing as one of the suitors interested in his services. [Fanatik, 18 May]
Speaking live on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday [20 May, 14:28pm] Stelling raised the transfer links between the Merseyside club and the Colombian forward.
“There are also stories this week that they [Everton] are linked with Alfredo Morelos, who is free at the end of the season,” he said.
“Would he be good enough for Everton?”
Boyd replied: “Well if you get the one who was fit and firing a couple of years ago, then he could be an asset to any squad.

“But the one we have seen recently, no, he’s been miles off it.
“I think if Everton are going to improve, they’re going to have to entice better than that.”
Poor campaign
Boyd is correct in his assessment of Morelos. He simply brings too many problems off the pitch to warrant a transfer to the Premier League.
Although the striker has had some glory days in the Rangers shirt in previous seasons, he simply hasn’t been anywhere near fit enough to score regularly this term.
The only reason that he has been a mainstay in both Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Beale’s side this term has been due to the lack of alternatives in the first-team squad.
Both Kemar Roofe and Antonio Colak have endured injury-riddled campaigns, while Fashion Sakala doesn’t quite have the composure to play down the middle right now.
Although Morelos is undoubtedly a talented goalscorer, Everton would be better to steer clear of this one.
From a Rangers perspective, his departure should allow Beale to turn over a new leaf and, hopefully, turn Rangers into challengers for the Scottish Premiership title next season.
In other Rangers news, a much more expensive deal looks to be struggling and a current Ibrox ace has been tipped to fill the void.
