Rangers told to wish Antonio Colak the best as ‘doghouse’ transfer verdict shared

Rangers should wish Antonio Colak the best and sell the striker this summer, according to journalist Mark Hendry.

The Croatian international only joined the Scottish giants last summer but has found playing time hard to come by under Michael Beale after a solid start to life at Ibrox.

Despite the lack of minutes lately, Colak still boasts 17 goals in all competitions in his debut season in Scotland.

“He hit the ground running in his first season at Ibrox with 14 goals from his first 21 outings,” Hendry wrote for Football Scotland. “For whatever reason he’s not been picked too often by Beale ever since he replaced Gio van Bronckhorst and there’s the chance he’ll be sold this summer.

“He has goals in him to be sure but at this moment, if he’s not playing – albeit he has nursed an injury for a bit – when Morelos is in the doghouse, he probably won’t play. The best option is to get a few bucks for him and wish him the best.”

Disappointing time

Rangers haven’t exactly been struggling for goals under Beale, but the situation with Colak and his lack of playing time is still a strange one.

The striker evidently doesn’t fit into the manager’s plans on the pitch, despite proving time and again that he knows how to find the back of the net.

It would be a disappointing way for the striker to leave, but he can definitely hold his head high with a fine debut campaign in Scottish football, with many top players not able to say that.

If he does leave, his new club will be getting a proven striker, and one that can often win games on his own with his ability in the final third.

Beale will no doubt be signing at least one striker this summer, with the manager definitely needing to take some time in this regard as he is clearly looking for a very specific player.

In other Rangers news, one player may never feature for the club again as chances of him leaving permanently in the summer appear to be high.
