Rangers takeover news as long-winded move likely at Ibrox - Finance Guru

We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Rangers...

Dan Plumley has insisted that a complete Rangers takeover would be complicated, but it certainly wouldn’t be impossible as news continues to swirl.

Rumours started online over the past month, with official club partner, the Heart and Hand podcast, having to come out and claiming it may be wishful thinking.

The finance expert admitted that anyone going in wanting to take full control at Ibrox would know they would need to engage in multiple conversations will different shareholders.

“It complicates it, it doesn’t make it impossible,” he exclusively told Ibrox News.

“You’ve got more people to deal with so if you are looking through the process of going for a takeover, who you have got to deal with, the amount of due diligence you’ve got to do, the amount of conversations and negotiations you need to have.

The more shareholders you’ve got and the more people you have to deal with, the more difficult it becomes, but as I say, that doesn’t make it impossible, you’re going in with your eyes open knowing what you need to deal with.

So, if it was a full takeover of Rangers and one person in sole control, you’d be going in there knowing you would need to engage with a certain amount of people to get a deal over the line.

It’s not impossible, but it throws up more challenges and more of a long-winded takeover as there are many moving parts.”

This is certainly something to watch in the coming months with changes galore.

John Bennett has recently taken over from Douglas Park in the top seat, with the former chairman strongly against selling any shares during his time in charge.

Kyle Fox was one name floated around as an interested party, although others are in the mix so anything can happen, but the timeline would be very long.

Buckle in.
