John Bennett to greenlight Rangers transfer push as triple news emerges at Ibrox

John Bennett is set to give the green light for Rangers to pursue a triple transfer spending spree that can help fire them towards the Scottish Premiership title.

Michael Beale’s plans for a major summer overhaul at Rangers have been well documented, with the Gers boss stating that as many as a dozen changes could be made within his first-team squad.

And the Daily Mail (14 May) has reported that the club are expected to throw millions at a major shake-up of the attacking options at Ibrox and invest in a “potent front three”.

“Rangers have also secured Norwich midfield free agent Kieran Dowell on a three-year deal and plan to spend money on a potent front three capable of delivering higher numbers than Ryan Kent, Alfredo Morelos, or Rabbi Matondo,” they wrote.

Beale recently confirmed that Morelos would be leaving Ibrox on a free transfer when his contract runs out this summer, while Turkish giants Fenerbache have reportedly reached an agreement for Kent to join them at the end of the season. [Ertan Suzgun]

Although both Kent and Morelos have had great days in the Gers top, they simply haven’t delivered the good this campaign.

Rangers

The English winger, in particular, has struggled to make a consistent goalscoring impact, netting just three times over 29 Scottish Premiership appearances this season.

Although Sterling and Dowell might not be the players to fill the glaring void the aforementioned duo are set to leave, it does show that the Rangers shareholders are happy to put their money where their mouths are and invest properly into the first-team squad this summer.

Rangers were heavily linked with Swansea City attacker Morgan Whittaker in the January transfer window, while the club are now in direct talks with the agents of Honduras winger Luis Palma regarding a £4.4million deal this summer. [The Transfer Geek, 12 May]

Rangers

When comparing Rangers to Ange Postecolgou’s title-winning Celtic side, the one major difference is the gulf in class between the two attacking lines.

However, it seems like Bennett and the shareholders are ready to address this weakness and provide Beale with a front line capable of lighting up the Scottish Premiership.

In other Rangers news, James McFadden laid waste to one Gers player for his “dreadful” attitude shown throughout this season.
