Rangers in direct talks with agents of Luis Palma as £4.4m deal on cards

Rangers have opened talks with the agents of Luis Palma as they look to seal a £4.4m deal for the Honduras winger, according to The Transfer Geek.

Michael Beale is keen to bolster his squad at Ibrox this summer after missing out on the Scottish Premiership title to fierce rivals Celtic again, with several first-team players set to leave the club.

Palma has been earmarked as a potential replacement for Ryan Kent and after holding talks with the winger’s club Aris FC they have now opened talks with the player’s representatives.

“Rangers have started talks with Luis Palma and his side directly,” they wrote on their official Twitter account (12 May).

“The Scottish side will offer Aris FC £4.4m transfer fee for the Honduran player. Rangers are already in negotiations with Aris FC.”

Considering Palma has got no top-level experience in his career, spending £4.4m on him would be a very expensive and risky deal for Rangers.

Malik Tillman is said to be someone that Beale wants at the club next season and that would cost in excess of £6m, and that means that you’d be talking about over £10m on two players in similar positions.

When you factor in how players we need, how many positions we need to improve in and how important it is that the deals get done, it would seem very crazy to spend such a large chunk of what is said to be a limited budget on two players.

Obviously player sales will help to raise funds also, but Palma would certainly be a risky signing. However people would have said similar about Alfredo Morelos and Kent at the time of their arrivals.

If Beale wants him then the club and fans need to back him for now. He’s earned the right to at least have a summer window in charge.

In other Rangers news, a European club are “seriously” considering trying to sign one Rangers player and his stance on a transfer has been shared.
