Rangers double signing now all but complete as Jack Butland and Kieran Dowell updates emerge

Rangers have all but completed deals for Kieran Dowell and Jack Butland on free transfers this summer, according to the Scottish Sun.

The out-of-contract Norwich midfielder is set to join up with former teammate Todd Cantwell after the Canaries confirmed he would be leaving Carrow Road at the end of the season.

Also, the Daily Record recently reported (2 May) that Butland, 30, was in advanced talks to sign for Rangers this summer, with the goalkeeper available on a free transfer, but Daily Mail reported complications in any potential deal.

However, according to the Scottish Sun [12 May], Rangers have all but completed both deals with Michael Beale wanting in at least three more signings through the Ibrox entrance as the Gers’ busy rebuild gets underway this summer.

Early bird

It seems as if Beale is already changing tact at Ibrox by getting deals over the line very early and considering how well Nicolas Raskin and Todd Cantwell have done since their moves in January, Dowell and Butland have the potential to follow suit.

Meaning Rangers are certainly on their way to going all out and properly challenging Celtic for the Scottish Premiership gong next season, however, there are plenty more deals to get over the lines with Chelsea’s Dujon Sterling set to complete a move to Ibrox also.

Rangers

Much has been made recently about Beale taking advantage of the free transfer market and he’s certainly holding to that promise getting some really good deals over the lines already.

Don’t rule out Rangers signing some potential gems either with Honduran playmaker Luis Palma a top target for the Queens Park Rangers coach and signing such talents certainly gives his philosophy at Ibrox a welcome boost.

After such great difficulty at the club in recent months, things are looking up and the Gers could well many deals wrapped in time for preseason.

In other Rangers news, the Gers are readying a £6million bid to sign one international striker amid the likely summer exit of Antonio Colak.
