Rangers transfer news as Club Brugge plot master move for Ryan Kent

Club Brugge are plotting a “master” move for Ryan Kent after missing out on a £6.2million deal in 2019 and potentially now signing the Rangers ace on a free transfer, according to Voetbalnieuws.

However, Club Brugge are now lining up a move for the Englishman’s services four years after they had their pockets picked by the Gers.

Rangers

Kent was set to fly out to Belgium to enter talks but was persuaded to make the switch to Rangers after receiving a phone call from then-manager Steven Gerrard.

The Belgian side are expected to sell a number of first-team players this summer due to their limited financial resources but still want to bring affordable reinforcements into the club.

Rangers

Poor planning.

Kent moving to Club Brugge would certainly add salt to the wound.

Rangers fans are already frustrated at the club’s failure to either sell the attacker last season when he still had a year left on his contract or nail him down to some new terms.

And now it seems like Club Brugge could be set to effectively save themselves over £6million, after getting the player they wanted years ago, just as he is entering the prime of his career age-wise.

The poor planning behind Kent’s contract has to fall at Ross Wilson’s door.

Although the former sporting director has now completed his move to Premier League club Nottingham Forest, he has left a number of out-of-contract players that Michael Beale is now having to deal with.

Kent will be fondly remembered at Rangers after several excellent seasons, but this term, he hasn’t been anywhere near his best.

It is time for the Englishman to move on from Ibrox, but where he will end up is still debatable.
