Rangers transfer news as Jack Butland now in advanced talks over Ibrox move
Rangers are now locked in advanced talks to sign Crystal Palace goalkeeper Jack Butland this summer, according to the Daily Record.
The newspaper has reported in its print edition [02 May, pg 45] that the Bears are kicking on to sign the Manchester United loanee, who will be available on a free transfer.
Both Allan McGregor and Jon McLaughlin are set to leave the club, paving the way for Robbie McCrorie to keep his spot but also become number two behind Butland.

Andy Newport wrote: “Beale has already announced Allan McGregor won’t be on board next season. The veteran shot-stopper postponed his retirement last summer in the hope of a glorious swan song.
“But it has turned out to be a campaign too far for the 41-year-old and his boss is on the hunt for a new No.1 with ex-England goalie Jack Butland in advanced talks.”

Here we go.
This is certainly one of those transfers that has been needed for a couple of years now.
McGregor not retiring may have been a mistake on his behalf last season, as it is clear that he has passed it, the same can be said for McLaughlin too.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst tried to mix things up at the start of the season, and that changed again when Michael Beale arrived, it just wasn’t good enough.
Butland will come in with England international experience, as well as the Premier League and will be trusted to be the only one wearing that shirt, especially with McGregor and McLaughlin moving on.
With so many new players needed, a few moves were bound to be free transfers and there will not be many more better than Butland on the market.
Given that talks are now advanced, it looks like it won’t be long until this one is rubber-stamped and signed off for the announcement to follow.
