Rangers transfer news as Malik Tillman deal now priority at Ibrox

Chris Jack has shared that Rangers have already made it a priority to secure the permanent transfer of Malik Tillman from Bayern Munich this summer.

The former Canada international scored a trademark goal last weekend, Rangers’ fifth in the 5-2 win over St Mirren and is currently only on loan at Ibrox.

Tillman is wanted on a permanent deal by Rangers with an existing purchase clause said to be in place with his parent club, Bayern Munich.

Writing in his latest piece for The Herald, Jack shared the latest on the transfer front as he looked at the midfield and attacking options at Ibrox.

“If Beale opts to let Arfield leave at the end of his deal, he must replace him in both style and substance and a player that can make those runs and contribute those goals will be invaluable for Rangers next term.”

“With Cantwell tied down and a move for Malik Tillman a priority, it looks like Beale can already bank on goals and assists from the middle of the park.”

Ready for the responsibility?

Tillman is absolutely a priority for Rangers, ahead of the expected rebuild for next season.

His 10 goals to date in the Premiership this season (12 overall) show the impact he has had in his debut season at the club. Moving forward, with a year of vital experience under his belt, he would be expected to increase his numbers and influence.

That includes the Old Firm derby, the single most important stage for a Gers player on which the 20-year-old is yet to shine.

When considered alongside Arfield, the veteran has produced the goods against Celtic and in Europe, with his goal return across this season standing at five in the league, nine overall.

Is Tillman capable of adding that tally to his own? Absolutely. There lies the challenge for the USA international.

He has probably been Rangers best player in the 2022/23 campaign without being consistently at the level he is capable of, there is so much more to come from this talented attacker and hopefully that will unfold at Ibrox.
