Ryan Kent exit likely as Rangers transfer latest shared by Daily Record journalist

Daily Record journalist Fraser Wilson has suggested that Ryan Kent is likely to exit Rangers this summer.

The winger’s contract will expire at the end of the season, with no positive outcome on the cards for the 26-year-old for an extension given talks have been and gone.

Kent joined the club from Liverpool on an initial loan in the summer of 2018, with that deal made permanent a year later.

“Rangers got a glimpse of life without Ryan Kent at the weekend,” Wilson wrote for the Daily Record (Page 49, 18 April). “For the first time since Michael Beale returned as manager – 22 games ago – the Englishman wasn’t involved as the Ibrox side eventually accelerated to a 5-2 win over St Mirren.

“It might only have been injury that deprived the wide man of keeping up his 100 per cent starting record in league games under Beale.

“But it looks increasingly likely to become the norm as the man who arrived with the X-Factor five years ago heads towards becoming the ex-factor with his contract into its final couple of months.”

Stellar signing

Kent has been a superb servant for Rangers ever since his move from Liverpool, with the winger making over 200 appearances and counting for the Ibrox club.

Given his record under Beale, Kent will continue to be a very important player for Rangers as the season draws to a close, with the club aiming to keep the pressure on Celtic in the league and defeat their rivals in the Scottish Cup.

The manager may not seem too worried about losing the winger this summer, with a handful of options already in the squad to replace him, as well as a potential new face coming in.

But fans will definitely miss Kent if he does go, with his wizardry on the wing producing countless moments of magic over the years.

Unlike many before him, Kent has remained loyal to Rangers and has stayed at the club when he definitely could have left to play elsewhere.

In other Rangers news, Cedric Itten has opened up on his Ibrox departure, revealing the impact of an anticipated move for Alfredo Morelos not materialising.
