Kris Boyd admits Ross Wilson exit from Rangers best move for all parties live on Sky Sports
Kris Boyd had admitted that Ross Wilson leaving Rangers for Nottingham Forest could be the best move for all parties involved.
The Athletic reported on Tuesday (11 April) that the Premier League club are in contact with the Gers with an aim to hire Wilson, 39, in a “senior football role”.
Wilson, who has been Rangers’ sporting director since 2019, has been the subject of protests from supporters for his role in the club’s poor transfer strategy and lack of leadership during his time at Ibrox.

Speaking live on Sky Sports on Wednesday (12 April), Boyd said that Wilson would find it hard to turn down the opportunity to return to the Premier League, albeit with a side who are in the midst of a relegation battle.
“There is no doubt that the recruitment at Rangers over the last few years hasn’t been good enough, there’s no getting away from it,” he said.
“I think the fans have had enough, you’ve seen them turn on Stewart Robertson and Ross Wilson, and I mean you don’t like to see it, but at the end of the day, the fans are turning up and they want better.
“For Ross Wilson, if the opportunity comes up to go to a massive football club in Nottingham Forest, you feel like it would be too good for him to turn down.
“In the Premier League, I know you’re fighting for survival, but you have a chance, even if you go down, to come back up and again consolidate yourself as a Premier League club because that’s where Nottingham Forest want to get back to, playing every single year at that elite level.
“Ross Wilson would want to be a part of that if that’s the case.
“As you said, it’s not all been negative, but you kind of think, once the fans start to voice their opinion at the level they have recently, it’s only going to end one way.
“And if there is an opportunity for Ross Wilson to maybe get out at this moment in time, it could be best for all parties.”

Finally
Fans have been calling for Wilson to resign from his position for months now, so this update will come as a welcome relief.
Wilson did have his occasional stroke of genius, including the big-money sales of Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey, but these were few and far between.
On the whole, Wilson’s leadership of the club was pretty shambolic. The lack of transfer strategy over the last two years has resulted in Michael Beale having an ageing squad that is bloated to the extreme.
The failure to sign Ryan Kent up to a new contract before it expires later this summer, along with the likes of Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Jack, are moves indicative of his time at Ibrox.
The club could have sold the Colombian forward and Kent for millions last summer, but instead, Wilson has let them run down their contracts and start negotiating an exit from the Glasgow club if they wish.
Why Nottingham Forest believe Wilson is the best man for the job is beggars belief, but good luck to them if the 39-year-old does complete his move south of the border.
