Rangers transfer news as BBC Sportscene pundit predicts Malik Tillman desire

Rangers will have a real desire to sign Malik Tillman on a permanent transfer from Bayern Munich, with the player having adjusted well, according to BBC Sportscene pundit Neil McCann.

Tillman netted both goals as Rangers defeated Dundee United 2-0 in their Scottish Premiership clash at Ibrox on Saturday (1 April).

He has now reached double figures for league goals this season, but his future remains uncertain given the fact he is only on loan in Scotland, with an option to buy.

When asked on BBC Sportscene if he thinks Rangers will be successful in bringing Tillman to Ibrox on a permanent deal this summer, McCann replied: “I would like to think so. He’s a player that has adjusted to Scottish football well. I think he probably finds the physicality of the game tough at times because he takes a bit of contact.

“He is so talented, he’s strong, he has upped his levels in terms of his output, in terms of his running for the team, at times I didn’t think he did enough, but he is doing that. His numbers are great, six in six is a wonderful return, he is going out wide, he can go either side as well.

“I think there will be a real desire from the club to secure his services, it’s whether the boy wants to stay.”

Coming alive

As noted by McCann, Tillman may have struggled initially to really get going for Rangers after his loan move from German giants Bayern Munich in the summer.

But the attacker now has five goals in his last five league matches, helping the club keep the pressure on rivals Celtic at the top of the table.

While his goals have been a massive boost for Rangers, Tillman’s feats in the final third will also be of a slight worry to his temporary club, who may now find that interest in the 20-year-old is increasing.

Given the huge amount of attacking talent at his parent club, a future at Bayern Munich seems unlikely, but there is a real threat of Rangers losing out on their young star to another high-profile side.
