Alfredo Morelos could be done at Rangers – Three players Michael Beale could sign to replace him this summer
Rangers have been constantly linked with numerous players and rumours have once again begun to emerge ahead of the summer transfer window, with key man Alfredo Morelos set to leave Ibrox.
The Daily Record reported in their print edition [13 March] that the Colombian is set to end his six-year spell at Ibrox, with a contract renewal unlikely as things stand.
Gers Michael Beale revealed recently that the club will be busy this summer as the former QPR manager aims to bolster his squad to fully challenge Celtic next season, and he could make as many as ten signings at Ibrox.

And finding a replacement for their key man would be high on their agenda. Here Ibrox News takes a look at three players who could be deemed suitable replacements for the Colombian hitman.
Joel Piroe
According to Football League World [14 March], Rangers are one of four clubs reportedly interested in signing Swansea City striker Joel Piroe.
The 23-year-old forward has been on the Welsh club’s books since the summer of 2021 and has gone on to become one of the Championship’s most exciting finishers, scoring impressive 38 goals in 82 appearances for the club, including 13 goals this season.
It is believed that the Gers have been sending scouts to watch the 23-year-old in action for the Swans this season, as they eye up the talented forward ahead of a potential swoop this summer.
And considering Piroe’s time at Swansea, and his potential suitability to Beale’s style at Ibrox having performed under similar conditions in Wales, he could well be the man to aid the Gers in their lofty ambitions next season.
Gue-sung Cho
According to 90min on 13 January, the Gers and Celtic were both keen on signing the from K-League club Jeonbuk Hyundai with Premier League sides Leeds, Everton, Southampton, Burnley and West Brom also said to be in the running for his signature.
Daily Record [3 February] then revealed the 25-year-old striker is expected to be on the move once the season ends, after his successful World Cup with South Korea in Qatar.
Cho scored 21 goals in 35 total appearances for Jeonbuk in the 2022 South Korean season and also netted twice for South Korea at the World Cup with both goals coming in a 3-2 group stage defeat to Ghana in Qatar.
Rivals Celtic have proven successful in signing East Asian unknown gems in recent years and with the Gers Sporting Director Ross Wilson facing increasing scrutiny regarding his pass transfer business for the Light Blues, he could certainly redeem himself by recruiting Cho to be Morelos’ long-term successor.
Kevin Nisbet
The Gers haven’t been formally linked with the gifted Hibernian forward but have been constantly urged by pundits to sign him for as little as up to £10m, with former player Barry Ferguson admitting he cannot believe the Light Blues didn’t acquire his services during the January window.
Nisbet, 25, has been on fire at Easter Road since the Scottish Premiership season resumed after the World Cup.
The Scotland international missed the first chunk of the season with a serious knee injury but since returning to action, he’s fired in eight goals in 10 top-flight appearances for Hibs.
Considering Nibet’s age, striker profile and potential the 26-year-old could well turn out to be a superb pick-up for the Gers in the summer, given his exceptional record in the Scottish top-flight. It’s a move which the club must consider but also one which makes a lot of sense.
Nisbet may be the ideal profile for Beale to build his exciting team around. The 10-time Scottish international holds great knowledge of the Scottish Premiership, arguably more than Morelos and Colak. But more crucially, he fits Beale’s ideal preference for a striker.
One who could drop deep, link up the play with the creative outlets behind them, form chances for his teammates but more importantly, score goals at a potent and consistent rate.

Nisbet is excellent technically, great in the air and a fox in the box. At the age of 26, he’s still yet to reach his peak which will allow him the perfect platform to mature and develop into one of the division’s best forwards if he isn’t considered one already.
In other Rangers news, three players could be heading for an exit from Ibrox at the end of the season.
