Rangers board feeling the pressure as protests show no sign of disappearing amid 4-2 win v Motherwell

Rangers made it eight consecutive wins away from Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday afternoon with a 4-2 win over Motherwell.

Goals from James Tavernier, Fashion Sakala, Todd Cantwell and Malik Tillman were enough to come from behind and earn all three points on the day, keeping the team chasing Celtic relentlessly in the hope of a slip up in the title race.

Yet despite the impressive record of manager Michael Beale since his arrival during the World Cup break back in November, fans aren’t happy about the way the club is being run and are making their voices heard.

After falling nine points behind our fierce rivals in the title race and then losing the Scottish League Cup final to them, it now seems inevitable that they’re going to catch our trophy haul sooner rather than later.

That isn’t acceptable considering we won 55 literally less than two years ago, and seemed to have got back to the pinnacle of Scottish football under Steven Gerrard.

But since then, the board have started their penny-pinching and the squad has arguably gone backwards, allowing Celtic to come back in and steamroll past us.

Some fans have been calling out the board and club hierarchy like Ross Wilson for a while, but the pressure on those at the club is now beginning to build as images from the weekend win over Motherwell show.

Fans of the club were greeted at their seats with images of Wilson with a red cross through it, with the message “time for change”.

Another image showed almost the entire fan base in the stands holding those images up simultaneously with a huge banner below it that had the same words emblazoned across it.

Rangers are risking what was initially a minority of supporters being against certain individuals becoming a majority wanting change at boardroom and ownership level.

Things need to change at Ibrox if this club wants to get back to the top.

Money must be spent, big decisions must be made, the squad needs a rebuild and the standards of the club must be upheld.

An occasional cup and competing for the title from a distance isn’t good enough. This is Rangers Football Club. Only the best will do.

In other Rangers news, an official club partner was “embarrassed” by what happened in the 4-2 win v Motherwell.
