Official Rangers partner furious with Rangers performance despite 4-2 win v Motherwell

David Edgar was furious with the performance of Rangers despite their 4-2 win over Motherwell on Saturday (18 March), labelling it “rubbish” and “embarrassing”.

The Gers had to come from behind to claim all three points and make it eight consecutive wins on the road in the Scottish Premiership under Michael Beale, thanks to goals from James Tavernier, Fashion Sakala, Todd Cantwell Malik Tillman.

But despite scoring four goals the light blues were far from their best on the day and Edgar, writing on the official Heart and Hand Twitter page (18 March) made sure to call the team out for what he considered to be a “rubbish” showing.

“So 4-2,” he wrote. “Rubbish first half, decent second bar a goal you’d be embarrassed to concede if you’d been at fives after 13 pints.

“Cantwell the star man, good to see Tillman back.”

Rangers are supposed to be winning these games because of the amount of quality we have in our squad, but the players should be performing far better than they are.

The defending for both goals was shocking, and the first half performance was nowhere near the levels that we’re capable of or that are required to be a top team.

Beale has clearly got a vision for how he wants the team to be and he hasn’t really been able to fully implement it yet with the squad of players he has available to him.

The players he has brought in have made an immediate impact and that bodes well for next season, if the board back him properly in the transfer market and give him the tools needed to make us a force once again.

The ingredients are there but we can’t allow standards to slip and we must continue to fight and demand the very best, otherwise we’ll never get back there.

In other Rangers news, the “truth” about some transfer news this week has been shared by an official club partner.
