Keith Jackson: ‘Tone deaf’ Stuart Gibson comments show fundamental change needed at Rangers this summer
Keith Jackson believes Rangers are in need of “fundamental change” this summer, and Stuart Gibson’s recent tone-deaf comments showed there are major problems in the club’s hierarchy.
During an interview on the This is Ibrox Podcast (6 March), Rangers shareholder Gibson admitted that sporting director Ross Wilson was doing a “brilliant job” at Ibrox despite the growing animosity towards him from the club’s fanbase.
In his column for the Daily Record, Jackson hinted that Michael Beale has one hand tied behind his back in trying to close down the gap to Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.

He wrote: “The manager has called in public for unity and alignment as he attempts to steer the ship through some seriously choppy waters but the latest horribly misjudged noises from above, which dropped in the form of a podcast with investor Stuart Gibson, went down like a depth charge.
“Gibson appeared to be in a state of stonewall denial as he spoke in gushing terms of the quality of those currently manning the club’s command centre.
“It was tone deaf. But if this really is the prevailing mindset inside the Blue Room then it’s no wonder the fans are reacting with such hostility because – banners or no banners – it feels as if fundamental change will be required if Beale is to successfully play catch up this summer.”

Growing animosity
Jackson is correct in his assessment of the state of play at Ibrox right now. The club need a major shake-up, starting right at the top and looking to fundamentally change how Rangers is run.
The likes of Wilson and Gibson are looking more and more deluded by the week as they continue to ignore the blatant facts which are thrown in their direction.
Even as the fans have started turning on the board and venting their frustrations through banners at home matches, the club continue to make errors in judgment.
The fact that the Gers are yet to enter contract talks with Ryan Kent is bizarre, to say the least, with the talented winger allowed to talk to other clubs about a pre-contract agreement while Wilson umms and errs his way to a decision.
Beale is trying to navigate choppy waters right now with no navigation system. The Englishman, whether knowingly or not, has entered a club that is rotten right from the top and is in need of desperate change.
In other Rangers news, this Ibrox ace has been tipped to join a “big club in England” after what Beale said.
