Alfredo Morelos now increasingly likely to leave as Rangers transfer news drops

Alfredo Morelos is now “increasingly likely” to leave Rangers once his contract ends in the summer, according to the Daily Record.

The newspaper has reported in its print edition [13 March] that the Colombian is set to end his six-year spell at Ibrox, with a contract renewal unlikely as things stand.

To add to that speculation reports in Spain in recent days have also suggested that Morelos may have already signed off on a move to Sevilla, something Michael Beale knew nothing about.

Writing in his report straight from the match at Ibrox, Andy Newport shared that the Colombian will likely move away from the club once the season is over.

“Reports in Spain over the weekend claim the striker has agreed a pre-contract with the La Liga giants [Sevilla] but that’s apparently news to his gaffer in Glasgow,” he wrote.

“Beale may not have sat down to discuss Morelos’ future just yet but it is now looking increasingly likely that his turbulent six-year stint in Scotland is coming to an end.

“All that will be addressed in the weeks to come but what’s of more pressing concern to the Londoner is Morelos’ form.”

Rangers

Turbulent.

What a six years it has been if this is to be the end, with every last emotion felt between the two.

Morelos has left fans shocked, angered and joyous with his work on and off the pitch at Ibrox, but all good things must come to an end and now may be the perfect time to part ways.

Beale is already planning a real overhaul in the summer, with plenty of departures needed as well as new arrivals, something that Morelos’ wages could help with.

With Ryan Kent in a similar boat, the majority of fans would likely prefer to keep the English winger rather than Morelos given their differing impacts on the pitch.

Despite the bad times that came with the good, Morelos will certainly get a great farewell from Govan should he move on as expected, with his goals a huge part of the revival of this magnificent club.
