Rangers transfer news as Swansea City manager speaks out on Morgan Whittaker

Swansea City manager Russell Martin has shared that he has been bombarded with messages on Linkedin from Rangers fans asking him to let Morgan Whittaker leave the club.

Whittaker had been linked with a move to Ibrox throughout the January transfer window, however, a switch to Glasgow never materialised.

Speaking to Wales Online, Martin labelled the talk surrounding Whittaker’s proposed move to Rangers as “nonsense”, admitting he’ll be in the Swansea squad tomorrow.

“The whole thing about Morgan, it’s so frustrating because I’ve got a brilliant relationship with him,” as quoted by Wales Online. (3 February)

“The amount of work Josh (Marsh) put in to find him the right club, support network and to stay in contact with him, there’s been a lot of work put in.

“He’s come back and not been frustrated with me because I didn’t make the decision to call him back. Again, it’s not in my control. The decision was made so we have to deal with that.

“He’s given us absolutely everything he’s got since he’s been back. He’ll be in the squad tomorrow. All the nonsense is done.

“I’ve had Rangers fans message me on Linkedin saying ‘let him go’. I’d like to reiterate to them, ‘I apologise I was crap at your club, but I don’t have control over Morgan Whittaker’. That’s where we’re at.”

Morelos hitting form.

Maybe losing out on a move for Whittaker isn’t so bad after all, especially if you take into account Alfredo Morelos’ current decent form.

The Colombian has had an up-and-down season with many claiming that his time at Ibrox should be coming to end this summer.

Nevertheless, his performance against Hearts showcased his upturn in form and his link-up play with fellow forwards Ryan Kent, Malik Tillman and Fashion Sakala is becoming a useful weapon for the Gers.

Morelos grabbed two goals on the evening, sending a clear message to Michael Beale that signing forward Whittaker in January may not have been needed after all.

With luck, Morelos can keep up this frightening form because when he’s fit and firing, he’s a menace for all defences in the Scottish Premiership.

And it may even force the club to hand him a new contract, something which a few months ago would have seemed bizarre.

In other Rangers news, Gers want to sign this South American ace who’s playing in Europe.
