Morgan Whittaker told Swansea staff he wanted to miss match amid Rangers transfer speculation
Rangers target Morgan Whittaker told Swansea City staff he wasn’t in the right frame of mind to play their Sky Bet Championship clash against Queens Park Rangers following transfer speculation, according to Football Scotland.
The 22-year-old talented forward has long been a top target for the Gers this month, with Swansea City driving a hard bargain and demanding more than the reported £1.5m that was rejected this week [Fabrizio Romano, 25 January].
Journalist Dean Jones [GiveMeSport, 24 January] believed that the Light Blues were going to “push” again to sign Swansea attacker after falling short of the Welsh side’s £2m [The Sun, 16 January] valuation with their previous offer to sign the wing-wizard.

However, according to Football Scotland [30 January], the Swans were never willing to sell their star forward and desperately wanted to keep Whittaker as a key player in their squad as they look to push for the play-off places in the Championship.
Also the report goes on to state that the 22-year-old told staff ahead of their game against QPR that he wasn’t in the right frame of mind to play to his best levels following the increased interest from Rangers.
Crushing blow
Considering Whittaker’s star quality and incredible potential, the latest developments regarding his future in Wales come as a crushing blow for Rangers.
With Beale currently undergoing a tremendous renaissance at Ibrox, looking to invest in young burgeoning talent, the 22-year-old could well have been the perfect profile of player to carry on the sustainable model.

It doesn’t mean the Gers can’t return with a much-improved bid in the summer though, as Beale has already stated his admiration for the player.
And Rangers would grant Whittaker the ideal step up and platform to go on and make a name for himself at one of Scotland’s biggest clubs.
It seems as if the Gers will have to be content with the signings of Todd Cantwell and Nicolas Raskin for now. Though, the future is looking incredibly bright under the former QPR manager.
In other Rangers news, a club in Europe holds the option to re-sign a player from Ibrox whenever they like.
