Chris Jack: Rangers remain interested in Morgan Whittaker transfer after Swansea City hold firm
Rangers could “return to the table” to complete the signing of attacker Morgan Whittaker after their initial approaches were turned down by Swansea City, according to Chris Jack.
The Gers submitted a second bid in the region of £2million for Whittaker [Fabrizio Romano, 27 January] after the Championship outfit rebuffed their initial approach.
Michael Beale’s side have already secured the signing of Todd Cantwell this window and reportedly reached a full agreement for Standard Liege midfielder Nicolas Raskin on Monday. [Romano, 30 January]

According to The Herald journalist Jack, the Gers boss may look to re-enter negotiations for the 22-year-old in the dying stages of the January transfer window.
He wrote: “Rangers remain interested in a move for Swansea City forward Morgan Whittaker and could return to the table once again after seeing their initial advances rebuffed by the Championship side.”

Bright talent
There is a common theme cropping up this transfer window, with Beale evidently identifying bright young players and looking to integrate them into his ageing Gers side.
Cantwell, 24 and 21-year-old Raskin, will both add a much-needed dynamism to Rangers’ midfield, and Whittaker could be a brilliant prospect for the future if the club get this deal over the line.
The forward has been in lightning form while on loan at Plymouth Argyle this season, netting nine goals and providing seven assists in his 25 appearances in League One.
For a relatively cheap price and considering the high ceiling he possesses, this could be a smart piece of business from Ross Wilson and Beale. It also highlights the backing the board are willing to give the English manager, who has seemingly taken the lead during this transfer window.
Rangers fans will be eagerly awaiting any deadline day antics in the hope that the Swans finally budge and give the green light for Whittaker’s move to Ibrox.
In other Rangers news, a club in Europe holds the option to re-sign a player from Ibrox whenever they like.
