Alfredo Morelos new deal on the cards at Rangers, he won’t leave Ibrox in January
Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos is set to stay put at Ibrox until the end of the season, but there remains a possibility he could sign a new deal at the club, according to the Sunday Post.
Morelos’ future has been up in the air for over a year and has been linked with various European clubs in the past. With six months left on his current contract, there is still no clarity on the Colombian’s next steps.
The 26-year-old has remained a key figure for the club since Michael Beale’s appointment bagging four league goals and two assists within that period.

Reports in Italy via the Daily Record [25 January] claimed that the striker’s agent, Alejandro Camano, had offered the player’s services to Inter Milan, and it could leave the Gers in limbo over Morelos’ immediate future.
However, according to the Sunday People [29 January, back page], the Colombian is expected to remain at Ibrox for the remainder of the campaign and there remains a possibility of the forward agreeing to extend his stay with Beale planning to hold talks.
Key Decision
Morelos has been one of the era-defining players for the Gers since their return to the top-flight bagging an astonishing 119 goals and over 50 assists in 252 games.
And the striker would have been forgiven for keeping his glances elsewhere after Colak took his starting spot in the team, but he’s knuckled down under Beale and again become the club’s MVP alongside the likes of Ryan Kent and Fashion Sakala.

It’s easy to see why the club would want to keep him. With the club looking to establish themselves as the best Scottish side under Beale, Morelos is crucial to those ambitions.
But, he’s been linked with a big move away for a long while now. And there may be a part of him that thinks he’s reaching prime years so that should mean bigger ambitions elsewhere.
Whatever Morelos’ thinking, he holds a key decision to make in the coming months. It is career-defining.
In other Rangers news, the Gers want to offer a four-and-a-half-year contract to seal the signing of this European ace.
