Rangers ready to make third bid to sign Standard Liege midfielder Nicolas Raskin

Rangers are ready to make their third bid in the coming hours to sign Standard Liege midfielder Nicolas Raskin, according to RMC Sport journalist Sacha Tavolieri.

Standard are making it difficult for the Bears after they rejected their second bid on Friday (27 January).

All the formalities from the player side are completed and done, but the Gers are in a race against time to reach an agreement with the Belgium club to sign the 21-year-old midfielder.

“Standard [Liege] makes it difficult for Nicolas Raskin as all formalities on player side already been completed last week. Just waiting for agreement between clubs. Second bid rejected yesterday but Rangers are ready to make another in the next hours. Race against time,” wrote Tavolieri.

Get it done

Michael Beale suggested that he is very happy with the squad he has got, but at the same time, he is still looking to make a few additions before the transfer deadline.

The Bears have already signed Todd Cantwell from Norwich City. Now, they are looking to add one or two more quality players, and it seems like the deal for Raskin could go down to the wire.

Rangers clearly are not giving up. Standard have rejected two bids for the player who will leave the club as a free agent in the summer.

The Bears can reach a pre-contract agreement but they want him now. Beale wants players who can make an immediate impact in the team, and Raskin has the talent to do that.

He has been frozen out by his club after contact extension talks have fallen through. The youngster is desperate to move to Glasgow, but Rangers can’t do anything if Standard continue to play hardball.

They are trying their best and let’s hope a deal can be reached shortly.
