Rangers transfer news as Nicolas Raskin camp now confident resolution can be found in January
Standard Liege midfielder Nicolas Raskin’s camp are confident that a resolution can be found with Rangers before the closing of the transfer window this month, according to The Herald journalist Chris Jack.
Jack reports that Rangers remain in discussions with the Belgian outfit after seeing their initial bid for Raskin rejected on Thursday 26 January.
Raskin was at Liege’s training ground on the same day as talks continued over his future at the club with Standard believed to be holding out for a fee of around £877,000.

“Rangers remain in discussions with Standard Liege after seeing their initial bid for midfielder Nicolas Raskin rejected on Thursday,” said Jack as quoted by The Herald. (26 January)
“But the move for Raskin remains in deadlock and Rangers will now need to go back to the negotiating table after Liege rebuffed their six-figure approach.
“Raskin was at The Reds’ training ground on Thursday as talks continued over his future and Standard are believed to be holding out for a fee of around one million Euros.
“It is understood that Raskin’s camp are calm about the situation and are confident that a resolution can be reached before the close of business this month.”

A year in the making.
Will he? Won’t he? This is a transfer story Rangers fans have been dying to know for over a year now and it looks like it might be getting completed in January.
Raskin’s eagerness to leave Belgium may be the swinging point in this one and it seems like the player and his representatives are keen to get this one over the line.
And if Rangers are able to snap him up, they will be doing so at an extremely low price, even if they are obliged to Liege’s demands.
This would fit in well with the Gers’ new apparent transfer strategy of buy for cheap and sell for more, something they could easily do if Raskin flourishes at Ibrox.
Nevertheless, it’s hard to get too excited until an official announcement is made by Rangers over a Raskin transfer, something fans will be nervously waiting to see.
With luck, this one gets done before deadline day.
In other Rangers news, a club in Europe holds the option to re-sign a player from Ibrox whenever they like.
