Rangers in ‘last straight’ in Nicolas Raskin hunt, agreement reached with Standard Liege

Nicolas Raskin’s move to Rangers is in the “last straight” after a fee was reportedly agreed with Standard Liege for the midfielder, according to Belgium newspaper, Het Belang van Limburg.

The Fourth Official suggested (Patreon account, 25 January) the two clubs have reached an agreement for the Belgium under-21 international ahead of his switch to Ibrox

Het Belang van Limburg now claim (26 January) Raskin’s imminent move to Scotland is nearing its conclusion.

Rangers

“It took a while, but at Standard Liege, the outgoing transfers of Nicolas Raskin and Selim Amallah are now really in the last straight,” they wrote (pg. 7, sports section, 26 January).

“For Raskin, there are plenty of negotiations ongoing with Rangers.”

Getting there

Rangers seem to be getting there when it comes to the Raskin deal. The 21-year-old has been frozen out of proceedings at the Jupiler League club and it seems as if Liege are eager to move him on in the January window.

It is important Rangers don’t try and negotiate too much with the Belgium side due to their eagerness to sell the midfielder. He’s got his price and the Light Blues must pay his valuation to get a deal over the line.

Rangers

As the window edges closer to its conclusion more pressure will rise on the Gers to complete a move for Raskin. It’s essential the board don’t let this deal remain uncompleted when deadline day comes around.

Anything can happen at the end of the transfer window as players move as a result of other transfers. If Michael Beale can land Raskin and potentially Swansea City attacker Morgan Whittaker, it would’ve been a superb first transfer window for the former QPR boss.

In other Rangers news, the Gers want to offer a four-and-a-half-year contract to seal the signing of this European ace.
