Daily Record journalist delivers Nicolas Raskin ‘official bid’ update as Rangers look to seal deadline-busting deal
Rangers are yet to make “contact” with Standard Liege for midfielder Nicolas Raskin, according to the Daily Record’s Andy Newport.
According to HLN journalist Bob Faesen (26 January), negotiations are underway between the two clubs for the out-of-contract 21-year-old.
However, Newport has suggested the “signs” from Belgium suggest the Scottish Premiership giants are yet to make an official bid.

“They’ve obviously got Todd Cantwell in and the signs are from what I’m hearing in Belgium that they haven’t been in contact with Standard Liege for Nicolas Raskin in terms of making an official bid,” said the Daily Record journalist (Record Rangers Podcast, 24m 19s, 26 January).
Nervous
This is certainly turning into a transfer saga for the Gers and the Ibrox faithful will be hoping for a deal to be completed before Tuesday’s deadline. Raskin clearly wants to come to the Scottish Premiership side and it’s evident that Standard Liege want the midfielder to depart.
However, there’s clearly an issue around the transfer fee which needs to be resolved. Rangers must ensure they don’t try to haggle with the Jupiler League side too much. Despite Raskin only having a matter of months left on his deal, he’s a talented player and Liege will be keen to get the right price for the midfielder.

It promises to be a busy couple of days for the board and Michael Beale with Swansea City attacker Morgan Whittaker also on the club’s wishlist. The Light Blues have already had a bid rejected by the Championship side, although it looks as if they will try again for the 22-year-old.
In other Rangers news, a club in Europe holds the option to re-sign a player from Ibrox whenever they like.
