Rangers bosses flying to Liege to seal deal for Nicolas Raskin, 4.5 year deal agreed
Rangers bosses are flying out to Liege to seal a January transfer for Nicolas Raskin after agreeing a 4.5 year deal, according to Sacha Tavolieri.
The Belgian youngster has already agreed a pre-contract deal to move to Ibrox in the summer and underwent medicals last week ahead of a move.
But Rangers want to bring him in this month to help bolster their squad now, and journalist Tavolieri is reporting that club bosses are flying to Belgium to hash out a deal in the coming hours.
“BREAKING We announced it on Thursday…Nicolas Raskin soon at Rangers FC!,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account (24 January).
“Player agreement [tick]. 4 and a half year contract. Medical tests last week [tick].
“The Scottish leaders are coming to Liège to finalize the deal with RSCL in the coming hours.”
Exactly what was necessary in this window was for Rangers to make a big move and show their intent, and that’s what they’re doing.
The deal to bring in Todd Cantwell has been confirmed and that has allowed the club to turn their full attention to Raskin, knowing that they have lots of leverage in the deal.
Raskin will move to Ibrox in the summer on a free transfer, but the club are willing to pay a small fee to get it done now and after being marginalised at Liege they would surely be open to receiving a fee now too.
There is a week remaining of the window so there is time to do the deal, but the sooner the better for Beale so he can get an extra option into the side and also get to work quickly.
This one is starting to come to an end, and Rangers look likely to get their man before the deadline. Things are looking up.
