Transfer talks progress for Todd Cantwell and Nicolas Raskin this week in Rangers news

Talks are expected to progress this week for Todd Cantwell and Nicolas Raskin as Rangers are looking to add new faces before the end of the window, as reported by Scottish Daily Mail (January 23, pg. 2, The Verdict).

Cantwell is almost certain to leave Norwich City this month. He has only a few months left on his current deal and doesn’t feature in his manager’s plans.

Raskin, likewise, could move to Ibrox as well. He has been frozen out at Standard Liege after contract extension talks fell through, and the club are willing to offload him this month.

Get it done

Michael Beale has done a terrific job so far.

His primary task was to arrest the gradual decline that became a worrying feature under Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

He ensured that the Gers maintain a winning run, and brought back the feel-good factor at the club. We can now see the players are enjoying themselves on the pitch, and there is an air of confidence flowing through the side.

The next challenge for him now is to bolster the squad and make necessary incursions in the transfer market. He needs to build a solid squad capable of challenging Celtic for the title next season.

The likes of Cantwell and Raskin would add tremendous depth and quality to the side. Beale doesn’t need squad players at the moment. He needs players who can genuinely improve the first team, and these two players are certainly capable of that.

While the futures of Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent are still undecided, it looks like the Bears won’t be selling them this month.

In other Rangers news, the Gers want to offer a four-and-a-half-year contract to seal the signing of this European ace.
