Glen Kamara and Scott Arfield axed, Malik Tillman and Ryan Jack start - Rangers confirmed XI v St Johnstone
Rangers have made 3 changes to their starting lineup for the Scottish Cup clash with St Johnstone this evening, the club have confirmed.
Allan McGregor returns to the side in goal in place of Jon McLaughlin, while Ryan Jack and Malik Tillman also come back into the side for senior duo Glen Kamara and Scott Arfield.
Michael Beale has gone full strength for the game, with youngsters James Sands, Alex Lowry, Adam Devine and Leon King all on the bench.
Antonio Colak returns to the squad on the bench too, as Rangers look to defend their cup title win from last season.
Rangers XI: McGregor; Tavernier, Goldson, Davies, Barisic; Lundstram, Jack; Tillman, Sakala, Kent; Morelos.
The league is out of reach at this point barring a miracle, so Michael Beale is obviously looking to prioritise the cup competitions.
We have already reached the final of the ViaPlay Cup next month where we’ll face Celtic, and winning that game could wobble them in the title race.
But there is still work to do in this game and while we’ve been picking up results in recent weeks, the performances haven’t been the best or most convincing.
This is a chance to rest and refocus here and get some rhythm in our play to claim a win and progress into the next round, but also an opportunity for players to secure their place in the team going forward.
Beale has gone as strong as possible, and now these players must prove why they’re first-choice under him as it stands.
