Rangers transfer news as Morgan Whittaker may have had head turned in January
Rangers transfer target Morgan Whittaker may have had his head turned amid increasing interest from Michael Beale’s side, according to Dean Jones.
The 22-year-old has been in scintillating form while on loan at Plymouth Argyle from Swansea City this season, netting nine goals and providing seven assists in just 25 games.
Fabrizio Romano reported on Thursday (19 January) that the Gers had a £1.5million bid turned down for the winger, and the club are now readying a third bid, according to The Daily Record (20 January).

Despite the Welsh club rebuffing Rangers’ attempts to sign Whittaker, former Eurosport journalist Jones believes there is still some life left in the deal.
He told GiveMeSport: “I still think there’s some life in this one, actually.
“I know that there have been various reports about whether or not it’s going to be possible at this stage, but I think at this level of interest, the player’s possibly had his head turned, it might be that.
“But ultimately, Rangers are hopeful at the very least that they can still pull off this deal.”

Promising signs
Whittaker is predominantly a right-winger but has the ability to operate anywhere across the front line if needed. Despite Beale already having Fashion Sakala and Scott Wright to call on in this area of the pitch, they can’t hold back in their pursuit of the highly-touted youngster.
The Gers’ activity in this window is a clear indication that the board are sticking to their word and backing Beale this month, as he looks to mould the squad to his needs.
The former QPR manager is renowned for his brilliant work with young players, and the potential double arrival of Todd Cantwell and Whittaker is an exciting prospect for Rangers fans to dream about.
The Welsh club are trying to get the best possible deal for the attacker, and they’re within their rights to do so, but it will be coming as a frustration to Ross Wilson and Beale nonetheless.
Only time will tell if Rangers will make an offer that meets Swansea’s valuation, but if completed, Whittaker would be an astute piece of business to match that of Cantwell.
In other Rangers news, the club want to offer an “excellent” midfielder a 4.5 year deal to join Ibrox “ASAP” according to a report.
