Rangers injury news as unfit Antonio Colak could play v St Johnstone
Michael Beale has confirmed Antonio Colak could feature for Rangers in their Scottish Cup fourth-round tie against St Johnstone on Saturday 21 January.
The 29-year-old was handed his first start under the new boss in the Light Blues’ recent win over Dundee United, however, he was forced off at halftime with a knock (Rangers Review, Joshua Barrie, 8 January).
Beale has since revealed in his latest press conference that Colak could feature against Callum Davidson’s side despite not being 100 per cent fit (relayed by Four Lads Had a Dream, Twitter, 20 January).
Risk
Considering Alfredo Morelos’ good recent form it seems like a bit of risk to chuck Colak back into the first-team fray when he is not at full fitness. He didn’t look himself at Tannadice and could well do with a couple more weeks to get himself match sharp.
Before the World Cup, Colak was one of the Gers’ standout performers, however, since Beale’s arrival at Ibrox Morelos has certainly looked more like his old self – and the man the new boss trusts in the number nine role.

Furthermore, despite the Scottish Cup being important, it’s not the be-all and end-all for the Gers in the 2022/23 season. They’re already in one cup final and still harbour hopes of chasing Celtic down in the second half of their league campaign.
Beale will be hoping for a professional and well-oiled display from whoever he opts to start on Saturday evening (21 January), with the fixture representing a good chance to continue their good form under the former QPR boss.
In other Rangers news, the club want to offer an “excellent” midfielder a 4.5 year deal to join Ibrox “ASAP” according to a report.
