Scott Wright exit at Rangers firmly on the cards as bid made for potential replacement
There have been plenty of rumours flying around Ibrox of late as Rangers look to kickstart their January business under Michael Beale.
Todd Cantwell is firmly on the Gers’ radar with Norwich granting the Light Blues permission to hold further discussions with the attacking midfielder (Football Scotland, 17 January).
Another player who has been linked with a move to Ibrox is Swansea City’s Morgan Whittaker and Russell Martin has confirmed (BBC Sport, 18 January) Rangers have had a bid rejected for the 22-year-old.
It’s understood an agreement could still be struck between Rangers and Whittaker, with there still being 12 days left in the window. One player who could be impacted by Whittaker’s arrival is Scott Wright.
The 25-year-old has seen game time hard to come by in the 2022/23 campaign and could well be linked with the Ibrox exit door if Whittaker does join the club.
It would be a shame if Wright did depart Ibrox. He offers something different for Beale’s team and made a huge impact in the recent cup semi-final triumph over his former employers Aberdeen.

However, if the Light Blues fork out a large sum of money on the Swansea man, it’s likely Wright could fall down the pecking order when it comes to attacking midfielders at the club.
It promises to be a busy end to the transfer window for the Gers and this could definitely be a saga to keep an eye on if Whittaker does move north of the border – a summer departure for Wright must not be ruled out.
In other Rangers news, the club want to sign this South American ace who’s playing in Europe.
