Rangers submit £1.5m bid for Morgan Whittaker, Swansea respond – Fabrizio Romano

Rangers have had a new bid of £1.5million rejected by Swansea City for their talented young winger Morgan Whittaker, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

The 22-year-old has long been a top target for the Gers this month with Michael Beale looking to add some attacking quality to his squad.

And the former Queens Park Rangers manager has recently claimed [18 January] that he has not been told “in-house” that the club have had a bid rejected for Swansea City forward Morgan Whittaker after Swansea boss Russell Martin confirmed [BBC Sport, 18 January] that the Welsh outfit had turned down a bid for one of their prized assets.

And according to the latest reports, the Gers have indeed had a fresh bid turned down for Whittaker.

Trusted journalist Romano, took to his personal Twitter [19 January] account to reveal a bid of around £1.5m was rejected by the Welsh outfit.

He tweeted: “Swansea have turned down a new bid from Rangers around 1.5m for talented winger Morgan Whittaker.

“Swansea bought him for 400k and are not accepting Rangers proposal, as of now.”

Pay up

Considering the remarkable potential and attributes that Whittaker possesses in his weaponry, it is perfectly understandable why £1.5m may be considered too low by the Welsh club.

Every club, especially in the Championship, want to sell their prized stars for considerable fees or to make a profit on them, and Whittaker is the type of player which allows Swansea to demand such.

And if Rangers are serious about backing Beale, and providing him with the tools and resources needed to topple Celtic in the near future, then they would certainly need to pay up on players like Whittaker.

This is a burgeoning talent, one which the Gers could build around for the future, and potentially sell for a profit themselves.

Ibrox has rapidly become an attractive environment for talented young stars in recent years, and harnessing the 22-year-olds qualities is an opportunity they cannot afford to pass up on.
