Rangers official partner details Morgan Whittaker Saturday D-day as Rangers see £1.5m bid rejected
Rangers could face a race against time to land Swansea City attacker Morgan Whittaker with the 22-year-old potentially set to feature for Russell Martin’s side this weekend.
The Swans face QPR on Saturday (21 January) and if he plays at Loftus Road he will not be able to play for another club in the 2022/23 season having spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Plymouth Argyle.
Rangers’ official partner, the Heart and Hand Podcast detailed the news on Thursday whilst reacting to the Light Blues’ initial bid for the attacker.
“If he plays for Swansea Saturday he can’t play for anyone else till next season,” they wrote (via Twitter, 19 January).
Conclusion
This transfer saga could well be reaching its natural conclusion. Swansea won’t want to have a player sat on their bench for the next couple of weeks and Rangers seem eager to get a move over the line. The Gers are understood to have had a £1.5million bid rejected for the attacker (The Guardian’s Fabrizio Romano, Twitter, 19 January).

This shows the board actively backing Michael Beale in the window, as the new boss looks to restructure his squad. The South Wales side are not accepting the proposal for the minute, however, they could well be enticed into parting ways with Whittaker should the right offer come in.
There are still 12 days left in the window and the 22-year-old is believed to be keen on the move north of the border. The Championship club are trying to get the best possible deal and they’re well within their rights to do so, but the Gers could still land a reasonable price due to Whittaker’s willingness to depart the club – this is one to keep a close eye on over the weekend.
