Rangers target Sunderland forward Ross Stewart there for the taking if funds can be found
Rangers must find the transfer funds for fearsome Sunderland forward Ross Stewart with the Light Blues definitely interested in him.
Former Eurosport journalist Dean Jones revealed on January 4 that the Black Cats striker was a Light Blues target, and with Antonio Colak losing fitness and form and Alfredo Morelos nowhere nearer to signing a new Gers contract, making a switch for a new forward at Ibrox would be welcomed.
Making that case clear, OptaJoe have shared that Sunderland’s key asset has the “best minutes-per-goal ratio” in the English Championship this season.
“96 – Sunderland striker Ross Stewart has the best minutes-per-goal ratio in the Championship this season (min. 4 goals), averaging a goal every 96 minutes (9 goals in 11 apps),” said the English football statistics channel on Twitter.
It will be a tough ask for Rangers to sign the coveted striker, but he’s the type of game-changer needed at Ibrox to help the club challenge Celtic.

Time to rejuvenate.
It’s time to inject the Rangers’ frontline with some fresh, exciting talents and they don’t come more mouthwatering than the in-form Sunderland striker.
Signing Stewart is doable like Jones claims as Rangers can offer the forward European football and the chance to challenge for trophies under Michael Beale.
With Morelos’ contract expiring in the summer it makes perfect sense to make a move for a new ace to fill his shoes, one who can challenge or partner Colak in the campaigns to come.
It may well be the case that Rangers need to oust a few players from Ibrox before they can make a switch for Stewart but by doing so they will be helping the team move forward.
The January 2 Old Firm clash highlighted that the Light Blues aren’t far off the mark under Beale, with a few new additions to the squad, they will be going toe-to-toe with Celtic again.
Tempting the 26-year-old won’t be easy but when have transfers involving Rangers ever been plain sailing? with luck, the Gers can find funds to get this one over the line.
In other Rangers news, the Gers want to sign this South American ace who’s playing in Europe.
