Rangers and Leeds United in transfer battle to sign Nicolas Raskin in January

Leeds United have reportedly joined Rangers in the race to sign Standard Liege midfielder Nicolas Raskin in the January transfer window.

According to Voetbal Nieuws [20 December], Barcelona are also interested in securing the 21-year-old’s services amid his recent contractual situation.

He has turned down a new deal at Liege and he will be leaving in January or when his contract expires in the summer.

Battle heats up

Raskin has been on Rangers’ radar since the summer and they’re surely going to be keeping tabs on his current situation.

He has been known for his “Excellent” ball-winning ability and he would be an important addition in midfield.

He’s probably never going to play for Liege again and rather than wasting six months of his career on the sidelines, he would probably push for a move.

However, signing him is going to be a tough one for Rangers, given the clubs showing an interest in him.

Players are tempted by the Premier League so this could play a factor in him picking Leeds over a move to Ibrox.

Barcelona also undoubtedly have that pulling power and would offer him Champions League football next season and the chance to challenge for trophies.

We will be keeping tabs on this one as he’s almost certain to leave and Rangers could make a move for him in the coming weeks.

In other Rangers news, a BBC pundit has savaged a senior player at Ibrox after what he saw him do this month.
