Rangers ace Ryan Jack makes Ibrox future admission as contract runs out in June 2023

Ryan Jack has admitted that Rangers have not yet told him whether or not they want him to extend his current deal at Ibrox.

His contract runs out at the end of the season which means that he is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with any club outside Scotland after January.

Despite this, the 30-year-old is still to hear from anyone at the club about his future, but he remains focused on performing for the club.

He said, via the Scottish Sun [17 December], “I am up at the end of the season and I have not spoken to the club so far.

“I’m going to work hard, keep my head down, play my football and whatever happens will happen.

“I have been here five years and am happy at the club. I am settled and I love playing here. But it is one of those situations where I have not had that conversation with anyone.”

There’s no beating around the facts that along with Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos, this could be Jack’s last season at Ibrox.

From his comments, it seems like he’s happy at Ibrox and would not mind signing an extension at the club as he and his family are settled in Glasgow.

However, at 30, Gers know that giving him another deal would only see them add to their bench strength as he’s unlikely to be a first-team regular and play week in and week out for the next two or three seasons.

Instead, they could be looking to get his wages off the payroll and sign someone younger from who they could perhaps make a profit in the future.

Michael Beale will also have a major say in it and one can understand why he would fancy Kent or Morelos to extend rather than Jack.

We’re hoping that all parties arrive at an amicable situation and do so soon because this limbo is not beneficial for anybody.
