Sky Sports pundit: Rangers could turn to EFL Championship market in January

Kevin Thomson believes that Rangers could turn to the Championship market in the January transfer window as they’re eyeing reinforcements.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the former Gers player said that Michael Beale’s time with Queens Park Rangers will have given him an idea about the kinds of players there.

He does see the club making some signings next month and said that it’ll be very surprising if they do not bring in any new faces.

Thomson said, “He’s now exposed to the Championship market. He’ll know what players are out of contract.

“I’m pretty sure he’ll be more proactive in that department and will be really surprised if they don’t see more changes in January.”

Makes a lot of sense

Beale surely will have explored many options at QPR and also looked at potential signings in the January transfer windows.

With six months left on contracts, a lot of players see the window as their last chance to fetch their club some money while also being on the radar of a number of clubs due to their relatively low transfer valuations.

Rangers compete with Championship sides for a lot of players so there’s a good chance that a lot of names of QPR’s radar would be good fits at Ibrox.

Beale may even turn to QPR and look to reunite with a few players, although nothing concrete along those lines has been reported thus far.

We’re hoping that at least two if not three signings are made in January because this side is some way off Celtic, not just in points, but also quality.

If the Gers board have decided to write this season off, it’ll be a massive shame as there’s still a lot to play for from now until May.
