Michael Beale rules two Rangers players doubts ahead of Hibs SPFL clash

Rangers duo Connor Goldson and Ben Davies are not a hundred per cent for the clash against Hibernian on Thursday, 15 December.

Michael Beale is set to make his debut in the SPFL as a senior manager and will have to deal with certain selection issues.

Goldson and Davies have returned to training, but the fact that they’re not fully fit means that their chances to start this game are in jeopardy.

Beale said via Rangers’ Twitter account, “Both Goldson and Davies trained this week. They are not 100% for the game but it is just now about getting them ready for 90 minutes. Having 5 subs allows me to help work them back into the games.”

Beale then gave an update on Tom Lawrence and John Souttar, but they’re both ruled out of this game.

He said, via Heart and Hand, “We’ve had some good news on Lawrence and Souttar injuries and looking at mid-January but won’t rush them back too soon.”

Need a win

Rangers cannot afford to start the second part of the season on the back foot and nothing other than a win will do here.

They’ve made the most of the break and decided to sack Giovanni van Bronckhorst to bring in a familiar figure at the helm.

However, the real hard work begins now with Beale fighting to get Gers back to the summit of Scottish football to usurp rivals Celtic.

Goldson and Davies could be seen coming off the bench as they need to play regular in order to regain their match fitness.

We’re keen on seeing how Souttar adapts to Beale’s system as we’ve not really seen too much of him in a Rangers jersey thus far.

It’s also important for the club to sign new players in January if they are seriously considering overtaking Celtic in the title race.
