BBC pundit makes Ibrox unrest claim as Rangers look to beat Celtic to SPFL title

Neil Lennon claims that there was unrest at Ibrox and thinks it will be difficult for Rangers to oust Celtic to the title this season.

He admits that they will have to win all the Old Firm games to make up ground in the league and has billed that as a “huge task”.

Lennon also discusses the psychological importance of getting the win against their arch-rivals during title races.

The BBC pundit told the Daily Record, “There were a lot of things going on at Ibrox, there was unrest there and we took advantage of that. The derby win was massive psychologically for us, just as January 2 will be for this Rangers team because victory is essential for them.

“However, I can’t see Celtic slipping up, not the way Ange drives them. Even if they have injuries and suspensions they have good depth in their squad and should be able to cope if they’re missing a few players. I won’t say it’s impossible for Rangers to overtake them but winning those three remaining derbies is a huge task.”

Not impossible

Michael Beale’s appointment is certainly going to give the players a lift as they look to do something special to beat Celtic to the title.

Last season was a disappointing one and everyone at Ibrox knows that it was chaotic but it’s now time to rally around Beale.

We’re hoping to see him bring in a few fresh faces in January as this squad does need some reinforcements to reduce that lead.

Beating Celtic is a priority on 2 January and if Gers lose, they might as well bid farewell to the title as the Hoops are unlikely to bottle a double-figure lead.

That said, if Rangers win, it’s suddenly six points and they will fancy their chances to get the job done and go on a run as they did under Steven Gerrard.

These are exciting times to be a Rangers fan and the Ibrox faithful are going to be the club’s 12th man right until the very end.
