Leon King new contract is ‘excellent’ news for Rangers and Michael Beale – Heart & Hand

Rangers official media partner, the Heart & Hand Podcast believe the signature of Leon King on a new contract till June 2026 is “excellent” news for the Glasgow club.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano announced that the centre-back had agreed to sign a new contract at Ibrox (Monday 12 December), after being on the watchlist of several Premier League clubs.

The 18-year-old has featured 11 times for the Gers this season and will hope that he can continue to impress under new manager Michael Beale.

The Heart & Hand Podcast revealed their excitement at the breaking news surfacing out of Ibrox, tweeting: “Excellent to get him tied up now.”

Pulling power

It can’t be a coincidence that King signs a new contract mere weeks after the appointment of Michael Beale at the club.

The 42-year-old manager quickly became renowned for blooding youth into his QPR side in the Championship, and it would come as no surprise if this is the case with the highly-touted Scot.

King has proven himself a classy defender over the past year, and tying him down to a long-term contract is a brilliant piece of business from the club.

With several Premier League suitors reportedly after his signature, this could highlight the pulling power that Beale may possess during his time at Rangers, and bodes well for future transfers.

Although by no means the finished article, the centre-back is a brilliant prospect and can now ply his trade under a coach who should give him the opportunities he needs to develop his game.

King likely has a huge future with the Gers, and his fresh contract could be the first signs of Beale flexing his muscles.

In other Rangers news, a journalist believes Michael Beale can transform Malik Tillman into a £20 million player if he signs a permanent deal at the club.
