Reliable journalist issues update on Rangers quest to sign Hibs defender Ryan Porteous
The reports of a Rangers move for Hibernian defender Ryan Porteous being imminent have been blown out of proportion, according to Dean Jones.
Speaking to Give Me Sport, Jones said that the centre-back may be on the club’s radar but saying that a move is close is not the case.
He claims that there still are details left to iron out and there are no guarantees of the move going ahead in the January transfer window.

He said, “It feels like this got blown out of control a little bit in recent times, as people are playing down the prospect of an imminent move.
“Clearly, it has been one on the radar, but I still feel there might be some ironing out to do.”
Needed
The 23-year-old is one of the best up and coming defenders in the Scottish league and certainly will be open to moving to a bigger club.
Under Michael Beale, Rangers are back to being title contenders and a good result against Celtic could swing the title race wide open.
The deliberations may be on Hibs’ part and now is the perfect time to sit with them at the negotiation table and see what their qualms are.
If they’re unwilling to let him leave in January, but the player wants the move, eventually there’s only going to be one winner.
Ross Wilson has been criticised in the past for his transfer business but this can be his way of putting things right and getting the deal over the line.
We’re hoping that something comes of this as Porteous is an experienced SPFL defender and he will be a good fit at Ibrox undoubtedly.
