Finance Expert: Administrators could look to settle with Rangers in Elite Sports saga

We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Rangers...

Dan Plumley has insisted that Elite Sports could still take Rangers to court through their administrators with a number of options on the table.

Insolvency experts have insisted that the £9.5million case could go ahead if the administrators believe they can win the case, with the finance expert agreeing.

Plumley admitted there were three options on the table, with one of those being a settlement being made outside of court with this really one to keep an eye on.

“I think the likelihood depends on the administrators themselves,” he exclusively told Ibrox News.

“It really does come down to how much chance they think they’ve got of winning the case. Their primary focus is on securing the funding for Elite Sports Group for the course of the administration, that’s what they are there to do and after that, it’s if they feel they have the chance of winning the settlement and it is a big amount of money.

“They have a few options, they could either push the case through, that will take time and cost money for both sides. You could try and settle with Rangers out of court, which takes a bit of time and there is no guarantee it works or they shut it down and say they don’t have the cash flow to do it.

“In terms of Rangers, you’re hoping for the latter there in terms of those options as the others will cost the club money and they have to go through the process, but it really is one of those, it’s all with the administrators and whether they think they can take it on and win it.

“One to keep an eye on.”
