We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Rangers...

Dan Plumley has insisted that having numerous shareholders and investors is the best fit for Rangers at this moment in time having got them back to the very top.

The Finance Expert admitted that it also puts the club in a great position if they need to generate more investment further down the line at Ibrox.

One negative is that more people need to be on the same page and agree, with sticking points coming up more often that if there is only one owner.

“I don’t think there is a best model, there is a best fit for the club and where it is at,” he exclusively told Ibrox News.

“The challenge of having multiple owners and shareholders is that everyone has to be on the same page and decision making has to be clinical, and that’s where you can run into problems as if there are more people who have to be told to make that decision, then more have to agree and the bigger chance of a sticking point.

“From an investment point of view and where Rangers have been, they haven’t had that one person who can do it over the years, it’s had to be this way because of where they’ve been – that is the model that has got them back there.

“There are lots of positives to that in terms of if you need to generate more investment and it gives you more options to go at, which is still the right fit given the situation at Rangers, whether it’s the best fit or way is up for debate.”

Rangers currently have 10 major shareholders holding more than 3% in the club, with George Taylor the latest to be added to the board in recent weeks.

Above him are Douglas Park and New Oasis, which many would believe makes them the biggest decision makers, although everyone has a say.

Whether this will change in the future is unknown, but right now, this model looks to be the way forward for the club.

In other Rangers news, one player could be hoping for only his second start of the season against Hearts this weekend
