Rangers likely to spend £2m as hundreds of Ibrox seats now set to be removed – Chris Jack

Rangers are reportedly set to refurbish Ibrox in a bid to offer class facilities to disabled supporters on matchdays.

According to The Herald journalist Chris Jack [5 December], additional wheelchair seating will be made available which would mean hundreds of seats in the Broomloan Front and Copland Front will need to be removed to create up to 150 wheelchair spaces around Ibrox.

The entire project is expected to cost the club a fee in the region of £2million.

Great move

Disabled fans have been complaining about this for a while so it’s good to see the club finally getting to address it.

They have rubber-stamped the plans and we’re expecting to see more progress on this front in the due course and we’re hoping some quick developments take place.

There have been certain promises made at the AGM and it’s time the board lives up to them and does what the fans expect them to do.

This is a new era in many ways and it’s time that they begin it on the right track and stop cutting corners as they have in the past.

The refurbishment will be welcomed by all the fans and we’re hoping that it does improve and enrich the matchday experience for the affected supporters.

There’s also expected to be a new museum that’ll be opened as part of this project along with event and retail spaces.
