Rangers pressure turned up on Ross Wilson after Michael Beale appointment – Chris Jack
Rangers sporting director Ross Wilson faces a barrage of pressure like never before after the appointment of Michael Beale at the club, according to Chris Jack.
The 38-year-old has been much blamed for Rangers’ numerous bungled contract situations and the failure to impress in the transfer market.
Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos are two players who held high-value last season but now see their contracts expire next summer and can feel free to talk to foreign clubs in January.

He was labelled as the scapegoat by many Gers fans following the disastrous end to Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s reign at the club and now finds himself under immense scrutiny as Beale gets to grips with life at the Glasgow club.
Jack believes that the volume of pressure has now been turned up higher than ever since he arrived at the club in 2019.
He said: “Ross Wilson has heard the comments and read the criticism as everyone – from the press to pundits to punters – have had their say on his Ibrox reign.
“Such observations can often be dismissed as ‘noise’ at a club like Rangers. When it comes to Wilson, the sporting director, the volume has now been turned up even higher than before.
“Some of it has been shot down as ‘nonsense’ and Wilson will not ‘buy it’ in other regards. Many will have their opinions on his successes or failures, but his mind is set when he judges himself against the mandate that he was given when he left Southampton in October 2019 to take up a role at Ibrox.”

Justified pressure
Rangers fans have the right to be angry at Wilson following an evident lack of activity in the transfer window and a failure to outline a clear philosophy in the transfer market.
Last summer’s transfer activity is still out with the jury.
Selling two of his most valuable assets – Calvin Bassey and Joe Aribo – for £30 million and signing Rabbi Matondo, Ridvan Yilmaz and Ben Davies for £10 million has yet to reap the desired effect he was hoping for, so January will likely be the most pivotal window he has had at Ibrox.
However, Rangers fans will breathe a sigh of relief at the news that Beale will be solely in charge of picking players he wants to sign for the club and deciding who to part ways with.
The Englishman can get his squad playing to his needs and bring in fresh faces who fit his style of play going forward.
