Official Rangers partner shares what Michael Beale said off camera about Ross Wilson and transfer concerns

Ross Wilson and Michael Beale have confirmed that the manager will have final say on all transfers at Rangers, while answering off-camera questions at his unveiling.

The 18th permanent Gers boss was officially unveiled at a press conference in the Blue Room on Thursday (1 December), and answered a host of questions about why he took the job, revealing that he had already implemented one change that an official club partner liked.

But it was shared after the press conference ended on camera that he answered more questions alongside Ross Wilson, including one from official club partner Four Lads Had A Dream about fan concerns over transfers.

“I put that question to [Ross Wilson] and [Michael Beale] along with fan concerns given noises from GVB (off camera questions),” they wrote on their official Twitter account (1 December).

“[Michael Beale] assured he will have final say on everything and his players will be recruited, [Ross Wilson] also confirmed that it is very much Michael Beale’s way forward.

“Very firm from both.”

Now we wait

The response from Beale and Wilson to that question is obviously a very good one and one that all Gers fans would have wanted to hear, but it can’t be left there.

We’ve heard from several people including Steven Gerrard and Giovanni van Bronckhorst that they had held talks with the board in the past and then when it came down to crunch time they felt let down, particularly when it came to recruitment.

If Beale really does have the final say on everything then it will surely go well, and if it doesn’t then he will have nobody to blame.

But the problem stems not in January, because they will obviously back him there, but in the summer or the January after when things haven’t necessarily gone exactly as planned in their heads.

The board are under the microscope here and everyone will be watching to see what they actually do over the next 12 months, not what they say.
