Sources share major Rangers injury news as Michael Beale & Ross Wilson grilled off camera at manager unveiling

Rangers have been given a major injury boost after Michael Beale revealed Connor Goldson, Kemar Roofe and Ben Davies are close to a return from injury.

The senior trio have had major injury problems this season, with Roofe only making one appearance in the cup while Goldson suffered a serious injury in the Champions League and Davies has had a number of niggling issues.

Beale and Ross Wilson were grilled at the manager’s official unveiling on Thursday (1 December), but according to Vital Rangers they answered more questions off-camera when the initial presser was done and revealed the news.

“A source close to Vital Rangers has revealed information from the gathering on Thursday afternoon when those present were able to ask further questions to Michael Beale and Ross Wilson after the broadcast content finished,” they wrote (2 December).

“It was intimated that Connor Goldson, Ben Davies and Kemar Roofe are all very close to a return to first team contention, with the Jamaica international already prominent in the scenes from Auchenhowie as Beale and his new team of coaches get their work underway.”

Huge boost

Obviously this is a huge boost for Rangers but also for Beale, who needs to hit the ground running with so many eyes on him taking this job with such little experience.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst was limited by the sheer amount of injuries that were suffered this season, with as many as ten first-team players out at any one time.

Defence has especially been an issue this season, with the always reliable Goldson even suffering this time, but his leadership being back in the near future couldn’t have come at a better time with a nine-point deficit to chase down.

Davies provides options and great quality too in that position, and it would also mean that we don’t have to rely so heavily on youngster Leon King, and he can be allowed to develop at his own pace rather than forced to learn on the job.

As for Roofe, you can never have too many goal sources in your side and while he’s likely third choice behind Antonio Colak and Alfredo Morelos, it’s a positive nonetheless.
