Chris Jack shares backroom development as Giovanni van Bronckhorst sacked by Rangers

The Herald’s Chris Jack has revealed Dave Vos, coach Roy Makaay and Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s staff will all be leaving Ibrox as the Dutchman was sacked by Rangers.

Van Bronckhorst has finally been relieved of his duties (The Herald, 21 November) after a poor run of results in the Champions League and on the domestic front.

It’s understood the situation has developed pace over the weekend and the club have now informed the 47-year-old that his tenure at Ibrox will come to an end.

Vos, Makaay and the 47-year-old’s backroom staff will all be following him out of Ibrox.

WOW

This was an announcement that wasn’t expected. There was a feeling the time had come and gone when it came to sacking van Bronckhorst. Now there will finally be a little bit of hope to come back into the club. Performance levels have been woefully low in recent weeks and there’s no doubt that this is the right decision from the board.

The players had clearly given up under the Dutchman and with the January transfer window fast approaching there was obviously a feeling amongst the Ibrox board that he couldn’t be trusted heading into a crucial couple of windows for the club moving forward.

Now, attention must turn to finding a successor for van Bronckhorst. It’s an absolutely vital decision for the board to get right and at the moment there are a couple of promising managers out of work.

Steven Gerrard is currently unemployed and it will be interesting to see if the Gers do make a move for their former manager, although it’s an appointment which could divide the Ibrox faithful.

In other Rangers news, the latest Ibrox conspiracy theory drummed up by Celtic fans is ridiculed by Gordon Parks.
