Rangers are edging closer to the signing of Standard Liege midfielder Nicolas Raskin in the January transfer window, according to the Daily Record.

Putting two and two together, the newspaper has reported that a move to Ibrox looks close after Le Soir shared a major update on the future of the Belgian.

With Raskin’s contract set to expire, Liege are said to have placed a deadline on extension talks with the Bears said to be waiting in the wings at the other side.

Writing on their official Twitter account, Daily Record Sport did not hold back as the contract disputes continue over in Belgium, seemingly opening the door.

“Nicolas Raskin to Rangers edges closer as Standard Liege set contract talks deadline,” they simply wrote.

Close?

Are people at Ibrox just continuing as if nothing has happened in recent weeks?

Giovanni van Bronckhorst is hanging on by a thread to his job and it looks as though he will be handed a lifeline despite no real crisis talks being held at board level.

The Dutchman did admit recently that he has no clue about transfers though, so it would be no surprise to see Ross Wilson going about his life as usual with no reprimand for the shocking scenes on the pitch this season.

Raskin has been linked previously to Ibrox, and now his contract is running down, it is no surprise to see the Gers line up for what they believe will be a real bargain.

Whether or not it is a pre-contract transfer for the summer or a bargain deal for January, it is yet to be seen, but nonetheless, it is certainly getting closer.

In other Rangers news, the latest Ibrox conspiracy theory drummed up by Celtic fans is ridiculed by Gordon Parks.
